🏡 “Where the Streets Know My Name” — A Poem on Small-Town Life
May 25, 2025 | by Sanadiversediaries@.in
🌿 Introduction
There’s something special about growing up in a small town—the slow mornings, familiar faces, and streets that carry your memories like old friends. In this post, I’m sharing a poem that reflects the quiet strength and deep comfort of my roots. It’s a tribute to the simplicity and soul of the place I still call home.
📝 Poem: Where the Streets Know My Name
The sky blushes early, no traffic in sight,
Cows cross like kings in the soft morning light.
Every shopkeeper knows your father’s full name,
And childhood friends still wave, just the same.
Tea stalls hum with gossip and chai,
Kites still rule the sleepy sky.
Dreams are stitched with hope and dust,
In a town where silence feels like trust.
Temples echo the sound of time,
Rickshaws rattle in rhythm and rhyme.
Nothing’s hidden, but nothing’s loud—
We wear our stories without a crowd.

đź’¬ The Story Behind the Poem
I wrote this on a weekend visit home, sitting by the window where the same old guava tree still stands tall. Every line came from a memory—like waiting at the tea stall after school or hearing my name shouted across narrow lanes. Small towns may be quiet, but they speak in ways cities never do.
🌸 Conclusion
Sometimes, you don’t realize how deeply your roots have grown until you return to where they began. This poem is a small way of saying thank you to the town that raised me—not with noise, but with warmth.
What reminds you of your roots?
